“The only time I feel alive is 

when I’m painting." 

But it’s not true. 

Today I painted all day and 

I don’t feel 

alive. 

Maybe what it really ought to say is, 

the only time I feel alive is when I am painting and I end up with something beautiful. 

since, I guess I felt alive when I was painting 

but they all ended up unsatisfactorily. Maybe 

that’s the problem.
And now I feel the same way my paintings turned out- 
like crap.
