Wear dresses.
Sit on tall beds
On my knitted wool blanket
Black coffee so thick you can taste the grounds in your mug
Watch the creamy clouds slowly dance around the mountain
Admire the green of the palm tree, of the pine tree, of the oak tree
Against the blue-grey atmosphere.
And remember.
Get a head ache from staring at the screen so long
Think of some pretty line and type
Melt from some pretty song and put it on repeat
Reminisce from the fast beats and the blinking lights
When she and I danced and shouted “subverseive!”
Go to a grad party and slowly drink three beers
Converse about Uganda, about stupidity, about future children, and of life plans
Discover more than one perspective.
Spray perfume
Borrow a car
Buy two beers and a box of wine
Drive to the park that sleeps beneath the looming mountain and
Laugh with each other over whispers about the ones we love
Hopeless over the ones we love
Lean against each other’s shoulders cuz you can do it with no other.
Take another sip
Light another smoke
Howl over another inside joke
Move on
Forget
Be alive, just be.
There’s nothing else we can do.
Make wild plans
Involving cigarattes, roofs, and accidental catastrophes
Screw school on the last night of our lives and dance nakedly
With incense sticks behind our ears
In the waves, on the sand, shouting
It’s my life, I want you in my life
Forever young, I want to be forever young
